2013 Women of Genre Fiction Reading Challenge

As a way to read more female authors writing Science Fiction and Fantasy, I have signed up to the Women of Genre Fiction Reading Challenge on Worlds Without End.

The challenge is to read twelve books by twelve female authors that you have not read before over the next year. The titles I have chosen are:

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
The Killing Moon by N.K. Jemisin
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guinn
Of Blood and Honey by Stina Leicht
Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire
Shards of Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold
Witch World by Andre Norton
The Whitefire Crossing by Courtney Schafer
Heart’s Blood by Juliet Marillier
The Cloud Roads by Martha Wells

  1. So many great books here! I can't wait to see what you think of Moon Called, The Killing Moon, Rosemary and Rue, Shards of Honor, The Whitefire Crossing, and The Cloud Roads! And I'm really curious to see what you think of some of the others that I haven't read yet but want to.

  2. They are all from your women in SF&F Month last year, I think, so I know that they are likely to be pretty good! I'm just amazed that there are some on this list that you haven't read! :D

  3. I actually haven't read any books by Andre Norton, Margaret Atwood, Stina Leicht, or Juliet Marillier. They're all authors I want to read, though! I actually did start a Juliet Marillier book once but put it down. It seemed like a book I'd really like; I just wasn't in the mood for it at that time.

I have read a book by Octavia Butler, but it wasn't Kindred. She's a great writer, though. I'd love to read more of her books!

  4. Good luck on your challenge.. They sound like good books. I'd love to do this one, but decided no challenges for me this year. :)
